Today, I’d like to take a moment to pay my respects to the greatest gizmo of all time: The Nintendo Power Glove.

For those of you who don’t remember, the Power Glove was released as a peripheral to the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989. That is also, coincidentally, when it entered my heart.

Seriously. Unless you’re a gadget nut, write a tech blog, or are particularly dependent on your cell phone, you’re not going to give a shit about this post. Even if you are, you probably still won’t care. But I’m annoyed.

Last week, I found myself shivering with cold sweats. It had been ages since I had spent a ridiculous amount of money on a marginally useful gadget. So, despite the fact that I already have a Palm Tungsten T5, I picked up the nearly identical Palm TX.

The lavatory at work just got one of these new-fangled paper towel dispensers with the electric eye. Y’know, the kind you wave your hand in front of to get your four-square-inch towel.

Does anybody else ever feel like they’re performing the Jedi Mind Trick on those things?
